Seren Winds is a Cardiff-based wind quintet, formed in January 2015 and comprised of Masters graduates from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. They regularly perform in Cardiff and around Wales, including engagements in the Wales Millennium Centre and St David’s Hall, and for various music clubs and recital series.
In 2015 they were announced as the winners of the June Emerson Launchpad Prize at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
After the success of the quintet’s first tour to Quiberon, France, in Summer 2015 to introduce a new music festival, Les Musicales de Quiberon, they were invited back and returned for ten days in the summer of 2016.
They recorded their debut album in the Dora Stoutzker Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in July 2016, featuring music by Farkas, Taffanel, Poulenc and Damase. CDs are available to purchase, please use the contact form to order a copy.
Seren Winds are also available to play at public and private events, weddings and corporate functions. Alongside performing many of the great staple quintet pieces they are always expanding their popular music repertoire and seeking to play new styles and genres.
The ensemble is also committed to music education and have performed a quintet arrangement of Hansel and Gretel, complete with narration and costumes, in various primary schools. They have a variety of educational projects available, please use the contact form on the website to find out more.
